Aliah University invites application for admission to the following programmes through Aliah University Admission Test, AUAT-2014

Courses through AUAT 2014

Except 2-year M.Tech in CEN, ECE, CSE, EEN, MEN admissions to all other courses run by the University are made through Aliah University Admission Test (AUAT)

Eligibility for Aliah University Admission Test 2014

A candidate has to satisfy all the eligibility conditions given below for appearing AUAT-2014

a) Applicants applying for AUAT-2014 should have passed / expected to pass the qualifying examination listed in Section before getting admission to the courses they wish to apply at the time of counseling

Group-A/B: Class XII (Higher Secondary or equivalent examination) passed with at least 45% marks or equivalent grade

For MBA 45 percent % marks in English is also mandatory

Candidates appearing in Class XII examination may also apply, but they shall not be eligible for admission unless they secure an aggregate of 45% marks or equivalent grade

Group-C (except MJMC): Candidates with Honours/Major in the concerned subject from any UGC recognized university with at least 45% marks or equivalent grade

MJMC: Honours/Major in any subject from any UGC recognized university with at least 45% marks or equivalent grade

Group-D: Candidates must have taken Arabic with at least 100 Marks in total in the final examination of the 10+2 pattern securing at least 45% in Arabic

Qualifying Exam: Candidates applying for AUAT-2014 in 4-year B.Tech, 5-year integrated and 3-year Arabic Hons courses should have either completed or should be appearing in 2014 in any one of the following qualifying examinations

a) The final exam of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/State Board, such as WBCHSE, West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education (WBBME), Central Board of Secondary Education (New Delhi) (CBSE), Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISC), etc.

b) Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University

c) Final Examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defense Academy

d) General Certificate of Education (GEC) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level

e) High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University

f) Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in any foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to the 10+2 system

g) Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) with a minimum of five subjects or H.S. Examination Conducted by W.B. Council of Rabindra Open Schooling

h) 3 or 4-year Diploma recognized by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education.

Age Limit: Maximum 22 years as on 01st July 2014 for Group A/B and 25 years as on 01st July 2014 for Group-C courses

Application Form for AUAT 2014

Read the admission information brochure and eligibility criteria carefully before starting your application process

Applying in courses you are not eligible for will only cause your application to be rejected & application fee will not be refunded

You have to ensure that you fill in all details and complete the entire application process at one go. If you leave it in between, you will have to start the process once again

After you have completed the form and made payment, you will get a unique application ID. Please use this ID in all communications

Students filling the online application can pay the application fee through online payment mode (Debit card / Credit card / Net Banking), Demand Draft (DD)

Make sure you have the Card details or Demand Draft ready before starting the application process

You will need to upload the scanned images of your photograph and signature in the online application form. Image size should be less than 500KB. Keep the name of the Image file as “Pic” for photograph and “sign” for signature (No special characters allowed in the image file names)

The Candidate who wants to pay through Demand Draft must purchase the Demand Draft in Favour of “The Registrar, Aliah University” Payable at Kolkata

Submission of confirmation sheet along with documents is Mandatory for all

Candidates may submit it by post/in person to University office address the Chairman, AUAT-2014, Aliah University, DN-18, Salt Lake, Sector-V, Kolkata-91

An application is not considered as ‘Completed’ if the confirmation sheet with all enclosure does not reach University address on or before 26th Mar 2014

Those candidate who could not upload the photo and signature, should paste a photo and sign in the space specified before submission

Where and How to Send Your Completed Application Form: Duly completed Application Form should not be folded, stapled or pasted together the Application Form and should be inserted in the envelope supplied

The envelope containing the Application Form and attested copies of Age proof, marksheet etc must be submitted to the CVS centres from where the forms have been collected

In case of ONLINE application, the ‘Confirmation sheet’ generated are to be submitted ONLINE

Candidates will have to take the print of the fill-in ‘Confirmation sheet’ and then along with the Confirmation sheet, he/she will have to send all the testimonials (mentioned above) with the filled-in ‘Confirmation sheet’ to the University office by speed post/Registered Post in the address given below

Test Procedure

  • Applicants should be present in the exam hall, half-an hour before the commencement of the test
  • No candidate will be allowed to write the exam without hall-ticket
  • No candidate is permitted to leave the exam hall till the exam time is completed
  • Calculators, cellular phones, books, papers, logarithm tables, slide-rule or any other calculating aids are not allowed in the exam hall
  • University will take disciplinary action against the applicants involved in indiscipline, malpractice, impersonation, etc
  • For all tests, the candidate shall answer 90 Multiple Choice Questions in 90 minutes. Each Question shall contain four alternative answers

Online application in the prescribed form are invited from eligible candidates for the General Aptitude Test for determining eligibility for admission to Full‐time / Part‐time research leading to Ph.D / M.Sc. (Engineering) by Research Degree.

Eligibility for University of Kerala Phd MSc Entrance Exam 2013

Candidate’s who have secured not less than 55% marks at the Master’s Degree Examination are eligible to apply for the test.

Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering with not less than 55% marks are eligible to apply for the test for securing eligibility for admission to M.Sc (Engineering) by Research.

Candidate’s belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes who hold Master’s Degree in Science and Applied Science faculties with atleast 45% marks and Master’s Degree in other faculties with 40% marks are eligible to apply for the test.

Physically / Visually handicapped candidates are eligible for a relaxation of 5% marks.

Candidate’s who have appeared for Master’s Degree Examination and whose result is still awaited may also apply for the test.

However; such candidate’s will be considered eligible for admission to research leading to Ph.D Degree provided they pass the Master’s Degree Examination with at least 55% marks and have been declared qualified in the test.

Candidate’s who have already qualified in the National Eligibility Test for Junior Research Fellowship or Lectureship of the UGC / CSIR or ICAR / GATE or ICMR JRF test or candidate’s who are selected for Fellowship by the Kerala State Council for Science; Technology and Environment or the State level eligibility test conducted by the Kerala Government or who hold M.Phil Degree by research and thesis in addition to a Master’s Degree or its equivalent with not less than 55% marks are exempted from Eligibility Test.

Candidate’s with DBTJRF are exempted from the PhD Entrance Test and they are permitted to register for research leading to PhD Degree in Biotechnology

Candidate’s with DST‐INSPIRE fellowship are exempted from Ph.D Entrance Test candidate’s who have qualified (GPAT) are exempted from Ph.D Entrance test and are permitted to register for research leading to Ph.D Degree in Pharmacy

Scientists / Ayurveda Doctors working in Pharmaceuticals / Hospitals / Research Centres owned by Government with 7years experience and having 2research papers published are exempted from the PhD Entrance Test.

Scientists / Engineers working in approved Research Laboratories either owned or managed by the Central / State Got or an Autonomous research Institution of National Status with 7years experience in the Grade Scientist / Engineer; having 2 research papers published in the recognized research journals of the concerned subject approved by the Board of Studies concerned, are exempted from the Ph.D Eligibility Test.

College teachers who have 7 or more years of teaching experience are also exempted from the Eligibility Test candidates with DM / M.Ch Degree are exempted from appearing for the test

Those who have qualified M.Phil in subjects other than the subjects in which he / she seeks registration for PhD would be required to qualify the Eligibility Test

Candidate’s Selected to the QIP (Quality – Improvement Programme) introduced by AICTE, for teachers of AICTE approved degree level Engineering Institutions are exempted from Ph.D Entrance test

Registration will be granted to the eligible candidate’s only if the concerned Supervising Teacher has vacant seats at the concerned research Centres

PartTime Registration

Part‐Time Ph.D registration shall be restricted to regular / permanent teachers of the Department and affiliated colleges of the University of Kerala in the concerned subjects

Part‐Time registration is also extended to teachers who are working in substantive vacancies in Govt and Aided Colleges in the State of Kerala

However; the facility of part‐time PhD registration (1) in library and Information Science is also extended to those who are working as Library Staff in the University of Kerala on regular basis with a minimum of 3years experience if all other conditions are satisfied and (2) in Management Studies is extended to those persons working in managerial position with a minimum of 3years experience in Govt. and Public Sector undertakings provided all other conditions are satisfied

Test: The eligibility test shall be conducted on 12th October 2013 from 10.00 am – 01.00 pm

Scheme of the Test

The general aptitude test will be of three hours duration and will carry a maximum of 200 marks and the test comprises of General Knowledge (40 marks) Short answers (120 marks) and an Essay (40 marks )

Post graduate level knowledge of the subject and aptitude for research are expected of the candidate

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and 7 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs at city, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) together administer the conduct of GATE. The overall coordination & responsibility of conducting GATE 2014 lies with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, that is selected because the Organizing Institute (OI) for GATE 2014.

New in GATE 2014

Examinations for all the twenty one papers are going to be conducted by a web pc based mostly check (CBT).
